'Nomads Crucify Saints'

With regular opener Heslington missing with a mystery foot injury and club top scorer Gardner out second ball for a duck things looked grim for the Nomads but a buoyant start by the Saints was ruined when Ings was dropped at square leg. This proved to be very costly as Ings played with character and patience early on before destroying the Saints attack on his way to three 6's and a club record 172. Stand in opener Caygill gave him excellent support and was rewarded with his debut 50. Saints fielding suffered under the onslaught as did the parked cars on the boundary. Ings was dropped a number of times late on before finally succumbing to an almost casual one handed catch by Szypulski fielding at cover. Hussain then gratefully broke his run of ducks and Nomads finished on a club record 271 for 2.

Saints clearly had a tough task ahead of them, and Nomads attacking field paid dividends straight away with Dawes caught 3rd ball at Silly mid-on off the accurate bowling of Fearon. Blackburn snapped up a sharp run out chance and with Brooks, Stickney and Forknall clean bowled, Saints were reduced to 16-5. From then on there was only going to be one winner but a stand of 30 between Johnson and Thompson brought some respectability to the score. The bowlers shared the spoils with 2 wickets each for Rowland, Fearon Tungate and Ings, and Saints were all out for 71. Leaving Nomads toasting a record 200 run wining margin.
