Lichfield Nomads C.C. v Bharat Parivar C.C.

Nomads pick up third win of the season.

Lichfield Nomads first game of the season at the Old Hill Ground was against first time opponents Bharat Parivar. After losing an early wicket (Gardner run out), Rolfe and Bastable put on a 27 partnership before Bastable was caught behind.
Shortly afterwards Rolfe tweaked a hamstring and retired hurt, only to return at the end of the innings. This brought together Kareem and Gibson who showed good shot selection during their partnership of 49 against a strong Bharat bowling attack. Gibson was unlucky to fall one short of his half century (for the second time on this ground). Clenton, Parsonage and Kalpesh kept the scoreboard ticking over to take the total to a respectable 187.
Bharat started with stands of 43 and 47 for the first two wickets. But they were finding the variable pace of Gibson difficult to get away and he claimed the top 3 of the batting order, all bowled, more often than not ‘top of off’. Then Woolley’s accurate bowling started to create pressure. Wickets were now starting to fall with a sharp run out from a direct hit from Bastable and then a spectacular diving catch from keeper Parsonage standing up to the bowling of Woolley. Woolly ended up taking 4 wickets.
Wasim was still batting well, and had retired at 50. When he came back in, at 9-122, he continued to score freely, ably supported by Himanche. They put on a partnership of 24 before Himanche was bowled by Loxley to win the match for the Nomads, with Wasim carrying his bat for 64 not out. This was a sporting game between two evenly matched sides and was the first ever victory for Nomads at Old Hill.
