Weather : Overcast, sunny spells, intermittent hailstones and rain.
Match Result : Nomads won by 5 runs. Nomads 124 for 9 off 35 overs, Birch Coppice 119 for 8 (all out) off 34.4 overs.
Highlights.
Fearon (16) and Heslington (10) looked comfortable early on but just as they seemed set to make a good score they both got out with the score on 26. The Nomads batting progressed purposefully but never dominated. Gardner, Pinfield, Forster and Newey all made double figures. The rain and hail forced an early tea and disrupted the Nomads batting somewhat. In the end the score of 124 for 9, helped by 25 extras, was decent enough off 35 overs.
Early Birch Coppice wickets were vital. Forster bowled well, claiming 3 for 6, including Digger Barnes for a duck, to put Coppice under pressure. Graeme Blackburn guested for the opposition and scored a single. Kester (47) and Kendall (41) fought back and looked like saving the game but once they were out the rest of the batting collapsed and in an exciting finish Nomads won by 5 runs with only 2 balls to spare.
