Nomads win at Coombs Wood.

The scheduled game against Bloxwich 3rds was cancelled and the Nomads played a 45 over match against Coombs Wood of Halesowen. The Nomads posted an impressive 241 for 4, largely thanks to a century partnership between Gardner and Pinfield.
The opponents batted right through their allotted overs adding 50 for the last wicket to finish on 146 for 9 to give the Nomads a 95 run victory.

Nomads had started poorly and were 6 for 2 after Caygill and Heslington were both dismissed by Cross. The trusty partnership of Gardner and Pinfield set about rebuilding the innings and Pinfield in particular was in sparkling form. Scoring 73 off 67 balls in only 73 minutes. Hussein (23) and Gardner added a further 65 and Dan (Sleepy) Moss (39*) added 61 more runs in an unbeaten partnership at the end to post a commanding total of 241 off the allotted 45 overs.

Fearon and Heslington opened the bowling and gave little away as the Coombs Wood batsmen struggled to keep up with the asking rate. Caygill was then involved in the first four dismissals. Catching Marshall and K. Baker off Hughes and bowling Gibson and Shilrock. The main resistance came from K. Baker who hit two big sixes and threatened to get Coombs Wood back in the game before he was smartly caught by Caygill in the Gully. Moss then bowled the two Joneses and Edwards bowled Baker (S) and dismissed Banks, thanks to a smart (and surprising) catch by Heslington. Fearon returned to trap Boswell lbw to make it 9 wickets down with 12 overs still left to bowl.
Pete Blackburn, Fuzz Weir and later Heslington tried in vein to break the last wicket partnership. Despite the Clubhouse boasting 5 Real Ales the Nomads spurned their chance to win the game early. Fearon, Pinfield and Moss all put down chances and the last pair added 50 to draw the game out to the full 90 overs.
