Highcroft and Great Barr Unity v Lichfield Nomads Nomads 215 for 7 v Highcroft and Great Barr Unity 153 The Nomads played Highcroft and Great Barr Unity as the scheduled match against Wall was cancelled due to the clubhouse being vandalised. A century from Pete Gardner helped ensure a 62 run victory. Gardner and Stanley opened the batting for the Nomads and Gards quickly set about the Unity bowling attack. The pair put on an opening stand of 50, of which Keith Stanley contributed 3, before Stanley was bowled by Logan. Caygill added 1 in a stand of 23 before he went the same way bowled by Logan. The old firm of Gardner and Pinfield then added 77 before Pinfield departed run out for 22. Weir scored 4 before being caught behind. Gardner recorded his first century of the season and was promptly caught off the bowling of Colvin. Brannigan made 28 before he was caught. Heslington and Hughes added an unbroken 38 to take the total to 215 for 7 off 40 overs.Openers Willis (0) and A, Thomason (5) departed early to leave Unity struggling on 26 for 2. The former was caught by the skipper off Brannigan and the latter caught behind by Gards off Hughes. A useful 53 from Worth was the mainstay of the oppositions batting and his partnership of 55 with Guest kept Unity in contention. Heslington had Worth caught and he bowled Guest to put the Nomads in control. There were two wickets for Hughes, Greaves and Fuzz Weir. Pinfield picked up the 10th wicket with the first ball of the last over, to give the Nomads a comfortable 62 run win. |
