Nomads lose at Shipston

Nomads lost by 119 runs on their first trip to Shipston on Stour. Shipston posted 228 for 5 and the Nomads reached 109 for 5, thanks to 49 from Mal Pinfield.

Nomads opened with Hoddy and Blackburn who was replaced by Brannigan after 6 overs. Hoddy bowled tightly only conceding 9 off 5 overs but the introduction of Brannigan only slowed the scoring rate to 5 an over with the score on 84 off 15 . The returning Heslington and heavily tanned Forster then bowled in tandem for 18 overs with the latter removing Hirst with a magnificent catch diving to his right and  and Heslington bowling Cox shortly after.  At 31 overs the score was 162 with Heslington & Forster conceding 82 runs off 18 overs. The return of the speedy Brannigan resulted in a further two wickets off two overs for four runs, one caught behind and the opener bowled after a competent innings of 123. Brannigan then skittled Wellsby but batters Murphy and Betteridge completed the innings untroubled to record 228.

Nomads opened with captain Hughes, who only survived 6 balls scoring two 2's, and Pete Gardner. Brannigan at number three survived five balls before unleashing a fierce drive which the bowler took over his head, leaving the Nomads on nine for 2. Heslington dotted for 3 before Gardner was plucked from the skies by Schaus for 8. Pinfield then joined Heslington and the pair put on 58 off 22 overs before the latter was out caught for 25 off 79 balls. Pinfield was unlucky not to make 50 failing to make the crease with only four balls left for a plucky 49.
