Captain Caygill won the toss and elected to field on a day that suggested rain was never going to be far away. A Nomads side, brimming with cricket set off to restrict the WooreCC batsmen and Collins K bowled particularly tightly in the opening overs. Moss replaced Heslington and maintained the accurate bowling. Hoddy took over from Collins, had Dimli LBW and further bettered his tally when Robbo was neatly caught behind the stumps by Wier. Moss’ pace was telling and he cleaned bowled Barnes to finish with good figures. George S came on for Moss and contained the batting of Maj and Woore CC Captain Rich for a while, but a strong finish and heavy rain was looming. The rain became more persistent and in the end the players retired for an early tea and the game was abandoned. As a footnote, it was noticed that the Nomads bowled 20 overs in the first hour of play, this holds up as the game started at 2.00pm and the players left the field at 3.48pm, 33 overs and a batting onslaught later.
