Nomads lose at Blythe (Summary by Paul Fearon)
A stronger than normal Blythe Bridge side easily defeated a lacklustre Nomads team by more than 100 runs. Nomads spent a miserable first hour in cold, windy, drizzle watching the ball disappear to all parts of the ground, as numerous chances were put down and the Blythe openers took advantage of some poor bowling. When the two openers retired, the match became more even and wickets began to fall. Chris Collins took 4 catches and Blythe were restricted to 275, which would have been 300 plus but for the slow outfield. An exceptional tea was served up once again. Including home made Chilli, Lasagne and Sausages in Onion gravy. Nomads openers struggled against the pace of the Blyth opener and both Fearon and Heslington were bowled by good fast yorkers.
The change bowlers were less daunting and Collins (C), Brannigan, Pinfield and Caygill all got going but no-one produced a substantial innings to make inroads into the Blyth total and the Nomads tamely batted out the 40 overs to lose by 118 runs.

Report by Mark Heslington
The Nomads fielded first on a day when conditions could only be described as wet, with persistent drizzle a feature early on. The opening bowlers therefore had to cope with a wet ball and Brannigan realised straight away the merits of a short run up in such conditions. Openers Grimley and Podmore scored freely and with the help of one of the clubs poorest fielding performances this year both retired on 100 and 50 respectively. Hoddy returned to bowl in tandem with Hughes and Fearon to try and keep the score to a respectable level. C Collins took 4 catches during a run of scoring that appeared take the game away from the Nomads and ensured a high total for the home side to defend.

With conditions drying out, Fearon and Heslington opened the batting and both perished early on to the quick bowling of Grimley. Collins and Brannigan both played their shots, hit 6’s, and were both caught. Pinfield dug deep and, along with Caygill, saw the score reach respectability before Nixon came on and took 3 quick wickets. K Collins and Hoddy played out the remaining overs to give Blythe Bridge victory by 118 runs.
