Result: Lichfield Nomads CC won by 78 runs

Rain started to fall just before 1.00pm, for about an hour, but fortunately Whittington CC’s covers meant that play could commence as soon as it stopped albeit in a reduced overs game. Lichfield Nomads, after winning the toss, set about trying to achieve a good target on a good batting track. Heslington perished to a sharp caught and bowled by Stevens but the score was moving along. Westwood got himself in, and then got caught behind to one that nipped back. Moss was out caught when scoring freely and Pinfield was bowled by one that kept low. All this time, Gardner was building an innings full of typical big shots and excellent running between the stumps. By now, he was joined by George who himself played some trademark straight drives. The end of the innings was punctuated by the scoring of 98 runs in the last 8 overs and the big total possible was achieved.

The score of 240 was always going to be too much, but it still had to be defended. Walsall Health, with the aid of two Nomads Stanley and Pickering to make up the numbers were being restricted by good fielding. Westwood and Hoddy opened tightly and Preece was the victim of a good caught and bowled by Westwood. Collins K took his 50 wicket and a good one it was, the dangerous Gorton for 30. At the other end, bowling off a good run up and with pace, Moss made the game safe with 4 wickets for 15 runs off 7 overs. Fell and Stephens came in and put some respectability to the total but Walsall Health fell well short in a fine victory for the Nomads.
