Bugbrooke v Lichfield Nomads Result: Match abandoned
A dodgy weather forecast cast doubts on the match being finished and these
proved well-founded. Nomads elected to bowl to give the players a chance to get
involved in the new season.
Sidebottom continued where he left off left season striking the ball to all
parts of the ground and beyond. One blow hit the side window of a Mercedes full
on without causing any apparent damage. Moss took an early wicket when Williams
attempting to emulate his partner flashed at a wide one and Gardner took a good
catch in the slips. None of the bowlers fared well with Moss and Hughes going
for a comparatively respectable 5 per over whilst
Hoddy went at almost 10 per over. Sidebottom retired at 101 but Chapman
also made his 100 and 60no by an appropriately named Basher saw Bugbrooke reach
a target of 293 off the 40 overs.
With the weather closing in Scott and Gardner had some batting practice scoring
34 off 8 overs before the heavens opened and the match was abandonded at 5-45pm.
Interestingly on Mark Heslington App calculating Duckworth-Lewis, we were only 4
runs behind the run-rate but it was felt there was some mistake there.
