Lichfield Nomads 132 for 8
Nomads were put in, Gardner and Stanley opening the batting. Stryckers
sportingly withdrew an appeal for a run-out when Gardner and Stanley ran into
each other when both zagged instead of one zigging. Stanley became a bit bogged
down for a time but started to accelerate and at the fall of the 1st
wicket a run-rate of 4 per over had been achieved. In previous seasons, Nomads
would have expected to get up to around 180 from this start, but at the moment
no-one seems able to push the score along for a few quick runs and we end up
hanging on to use up the overs. George and Rolfe flurried briefly but both got
out to early, and Scott always seemed to be struggling to regain form. A holding
innings by Heslington saw a final total of 132-8 achieved.
Nomads once again found themselves trying to defend a small target with a
minimal bowling attack. Heslington and Hoddy opened and bowled well keeping the
runrate down and taking 3 wickets between them and at this point Strykers were
well behind the runrate. However they seem to have the policy of giving everyone
a game, using 9 bowlers, and apparently keeping some of their better batsmen
down the order. Hughes and Blackburn bowled well without much luck. George is
still trying to regain his line and length and with only some 20 runs to get off
10 overs captain Jones gave his part time bowlers Gardner and Pickering a bowl.
The target was achieved with 4 overs to spare.
Again we could not push the score along after a reasonable start and lacking
several front-line bowlers had not enough resources to bowl the opposition out.
