Scores: Wednesbury 288 for 4, Lichfield Nomads CC 117 for 9.
Result: Wednesbury won by 171 runs

Nomads well beaten at Wednesbury

This was a local fixture for some of our players but there was no mercy shown by the opposition. The news that the South African pro was playing against us did not bode well and there were some other 1st and 2nd team players also playing. Wednebury batted and set a brisk pace. Heslington bowled very well but was still picked off for 5 per over. Cartwright made a brilliant catch at shortish cover and almost took an even more difficult chance the following ball. Hoddy managed to get 2 wickets but that only brought in Ali who destroyed the bowling reaching 91 in an amazingly short time. The innings end saw the daunting 288 scored.

There is not really much to say about our innings. The 2 opening bowlers were young brothers who were hittable but the next 2 bowlers were too steady and 3 wickets fell for 18 runs in 10 overs. The only Nomad making double figures was I Terry who made a creditable 48 before being stumped. Nomads finally made 117 and saw the overs out.

This was a much different side from previous Wednesbury sides we had played and the suggestion of  a declaration match was only made after the game had finished.
