Result: Lichfield Nomads beat Aston Unity
by 5 wickets runs.

undefeated in Two Matches
A short trip to Aston Unity saw
Nomads ebullient after an exciting tie the previous week and the anticipation of
the arrival of new shirts for the match. Aston Unity batted first and scored
briskly, especially against Brannigan who did not seem prepared for opening the
bowling and with 91 off the first 20 overs a large total seemed on the cards.
Fortunately the captain had turned to the ever reliable Fearon who took some
important wickets, the highlight being a one-handed caught and bowled with
Fearon having to make up a lot of ground to take the ball. This exposed the
youngsters in the team to the guile and wiles of Cartwright and Hoddy which
proved too much for them and they
subsided to 138 all out after 34 overs
Not needing to score quickly,
Gardner and Terry played carefully, not trying any quick singles but happily
aided by the large number of extras given away. Both openers were out close
together which saw George and Brannigan coming into bat. Brannigan continued his
fine batting form hitting a quick fire 54
off 40 balls, although at one point it looked as though he might just fall short
of 50 with Hutton closing in on the required total. Brannigan did achieve his 50
when he ran a single off a dropped catch. Unfortunately Hutton succumbed with
the scores level.
Another good performance by
Nomads, hopefully the sign of things to come.
