(Ijaz 38, Fearon 4-24, Blackburn 3-19, Moss 2-2)
On the day Ireland went out to Spain on penalties in the World Cup, Nomads beat Norton by 42 runs. It was a comfortable finish but things had looked very different at 47 for no wicket in the 10th over.

Nomads won the toss and batted first. Grewer had to retire hurt with blurred vision early on and Gardner and Moss laid a good foundation taking the score to 41 for the first wicket before Moss was bowled for 8. The slow outfield was making run scoring tricky and Pinfield's 42 was the mainstay of the innings. Grewer returned late on and Fearon hit a huge skying straight drive which only went for 2 runs after plugging in the damp outfield. This brought the response of a short pitched delivery which Fearon pulled for the only six of the Nomads innings.

The Nomads total of 150 looked competitive but Ijaz and Wyatt put on 47 and were batting positively and well up with the rate. Ijaz survived a couple of close lbw decisions off Heslington and then Fearon trapped him leg before wicket and then took 3 further wickets to reduce Norton to 59 for 4 as indiscipline took over the Norton batting. Good support bowling from Greaves (1-21) and Blackburn(3-19) saw the middle order stutter and Moss finished off the tail with a cameo 2 for 2.
