Weather forces abandonment at Pott Shrigley

Torrential rain forced the abandonment of the game against Pott Shrigley on Sunday 22nd July, 2007.
Only 23 overs were possible as the hosts reached 110 for 3 before the heavens opened to flood the square and the outfield.  An early tea was taken but the match could not restart as the rain continued to hammer down.

Bowling was tricky in the wet conditions and the Nomads bad balls were put away well by both Dawson (cuts and drives) and Marshall (sweeps and drives).
Heslington bowled Dawson for twenty as he played on to a near yorker length delivery. Greaves took a good catch at mid-off to dismiss Beard off the bowling of Hoddy.
Johnson hit 16 in an over off Fearon to reach his 50 but Fearon bowled him with a quick straight one in his next over.
In the field, Hughes pulled off a fine stop in the covers and Caygill acquitted himself well behind the stumps with a confident display, in the absence of Gardner.
Greaves and Hughes had just begun their spells as the rain began to get heavier and heavier before the inevitable came and the players went off for an early tea.

At the cessation, Pott Shrigley had reached 110 for 3 off 23 overs.
