Lichfield Nomads Cricket Club : Match Reports 2008

Light rain at the start of innings made the surface greasy with Keith struggling to score 11 off 36 balls and Dan 22 off 39 (off keeper's wrist, impossible delivery etc), 50 for 2 off 16 overs; Gards struggled from the start only scoring 10 off 41 balls whilst a quick 12 from Malcolm increased the scoring rate .to plus 3 an over. Gards was joined by Fuzz in a 4th wicket stand of 54 off 14 overs with the latter biffing the ball to a lifetimes best of 26 including 3 4's and 4 2's, (3's weren't attempted). Gards was out with the score at 136 off 39 overs having survived 26 overs for a well fought 42. Big Dan then proceeded to take the Walsall attack apart hitting 21 off 14 balls including 1 4, 5 2's and 2 3's with Nomads scoring 37 off  the last 5 overs.

Nomads opened with Hoddy and Blackburn restricting Walsall to 30 off 8 with Hoddy's opening spell of 6 overs for 13 runs. A late decision by the umpire gave Moss the prized wicket of the dangerous Nawaz whilst Brannigan kept the batsmen on the back foot dismissing two batsmen in the same over reducing Walsall to 45 for 4 off 18. Oliver helped the young Stephens in a stand of 22 for the fifth wicket before playing on and then Day supported Stephens in a stand 47 before being bowled by the persistent Hoddy. Stephens went on to finish with 59 not out at the close playing out for the draw with Fell. .

 Mark Heslington umpired for 44 overs and scored for 41 with the help of the Chairman manipulating the scoreboard.
