Fleckney 9 battle to unlikely victory

The legend of the Fleckney 9 will live long in the memory of Nomads for time immemorial. In bars up and down the Midlands it will be spoken of in hushed tones much like the legendary defeat to the Staffordshire side in the 1990s.
A prearranged tour to watch the Test match at Headingley followed by a friendly match against a local Yorkshire side was thrown into turmoil when the hosts announced they had a cup match and the game was off. Twitter came to the rescue and Leicestershire village side Fleckney kindly offered to host the Nomads at short notice.
This was just the start of Captain Hutton's problems. Two of the tourists opted not to play and no other Nomads could be rustled up at short notice. This meant that only nine players travelled down the M1 to leafy Fleckney.

The nine that did turn out were magnificent. A superb bowling display saw four wickets for Westwood, three for Hutton and a run rate of just 2.5 an over conceded. Fleckney posted 102 for 9 in their 40 overs.

The Nomads chased down the total with six wickets and more than five overs to spare, Dan Moss top scoring with 35 not out.
