Draycott & Hanbury C.C. v Lichfield Nomads C.C.

Nomads lose away at Draycott and Hanbury

Draycott and Hanbury outplay the Nomads
We beat this team comfortably last season. Nomads were expecting tougher opposition and this proved to be the case. D & H batted first and the openers rode their luck with a number of boundaries off the edge. However Aneek Mahmood was bowling well and deservedly bowled the 2 openers. However the rest of the bowlers struggled with the early season unresponsive pitches, not helped by ragged feilding, and Nomads were undone by a Gardner , namely Tom, who scored an unbeaten 75. The rest of the batsmen contributed runs to give D&H an impressive 250.
Pete Gardner and , stand in opener, Richard Bastable opened the batting against Jack Clark and Sophie Richards. Bastable was out fairly quickly and then Nomads luck deserted them with John Loxley suffering a pulled calf muscle and then Pete Gardner was run out by a 30 yard direct hit at one stump.. Aneek Mahmood and Luke Turnbull contributed some runs but when Dave Rolfe had to retire after being hit in the face off a top edge the writing was on the wall. A Clark skittled through lower order with a chance of a hat trick and Nomads sank to an unimpressive 122- 8 with extras contributing 51 of those.
Not a good day for the Nomads who did not have much luck but also did not help themselves.
