Dorridge C.C. v Lichfield Nomads C.C.

Nomads Give Dorridge Catching Practice

Nomads travelled to the leafy outskirts of Birmingham (Ed: Solihull!) to play Dorridge for the first time. In lovely surroundings Dorridge's 2 young openers accumulated the runs by just waiting for the bad ball and punishing it without great ceremony. This enabled them to reach 110 in 20 overs before a wicket fell. The twin spin partnership of Hoddy and Jordan took a couple of quick wickets, but this brought in G Harrison who began to smash the bowling around. Hoddy missed a very difficult caught and bowled but after the opener King retired on reaching 100 and Harrison on reaching 50 , the incoming batsmen were sufficeint to take the score to a massive 269.
With a weakish batting line-up Nomads had little hope of reaching the target , especially after Gardner admitted to just hitting a wide ball down the leg-side for a rare gonad. Then Brannigan top edged a hook shot to give the keeper an easy catch.Ghosal, who had been playing well, also admitted to a faint edge for yet another catch to the opposition. Mahmood looked to be the only batsman who might trouble the opposition but he succumbed to an excellent return catch by the bowler. Rolfe and Basi were also out caught for gonads. Fearon and Cartwright battled but they were both out caught as well. In total 8 of the 10 wickets were out to catches. Nomads managed to reach the respectability of reaching 100 but that is about all we could take from the game.
Whilst not having much fortune this season, we have not yet played very well and been well-beaten by better teams.
