Nomads travelled into Cheshire to do battle with Woore. On a hot, sultry day with threats of storms in the air, Nomads elected to bat. This match saw the welcome return of Capt. Rolfe having recovered from his finger problems. The regular openers Ghosal and Gardner, got off to a brisk start even though 4 overs went by without a run off the bat. Extras was to be a big scorer in this innings. A splendid opening stand of 121 gave a good base to push the innings along. After replacing Ghosal, Hutton was caught out in the deep going for the runs. Then Mahmood came in and set the pace, before seeing the departure of Gardner having reached yet another 50 in his long career and making another push for season's leading scorer. Brannigan contributed with a brisk 25, but Bastable was unlucky to claim another duck being adjudged lbw. Lee and Fearon saw the innings out, with Fearon being caught off the last ball.
On a dry pitch with a short boundary and thoughts of the previous season, Nomads were far from complacent even with an excellent score of 254 on the board.
These misgivings were confirmed when Woore raced off to a flying start of 8 per over. The batsmen gave several half chances going for the runs, and Lee took a caught and bowled in his 2nd over. Mahmood was suffering punishment and was replaced by Hughes who found his rythmn after having had a shaky start to the season, finishing with three wickets. Hoddy, after 2 leg side wides from his first 2 balls, found his line also claiming 3 wickets. Hughes was unlucky to be taken off but the captain wanted to give other players a bowl, Fearon, unfortunately, missed out completely but Hutton came on to polish off the innings with 2 wickets in 7 balls.
Another splendid victory by Nomads against a tough Woore side who were always up with the run rate, however the steady fall of wickets shared between the bowlers saw Nomads attain a comfortable victory. Three wins out of four matches played.
