Nomads travelled over to old rivals Walsall Health with little prospect of completing the match as heavy rain was forecast. However the match started after a slight rain delay and Walsall wer put into bat. Mahmood and Lee bowled superbly, with Lee completing 5 maidens and having yet another catch dropped. Lee would be on twice the number of wickets if all his catches had been taken. D Preece was riding his luck and keeping the score ticking but at fewer than 2 per over. Bryars and Turnbull kept the run-rate down with 4 overs each. Hoddy and Sayles were more expensive but then Jordan came on and mopped up the tail as well as finally taking the wicket of Preece attempting an extravagant pull shot. Hutton finished things off taking the last wicket with one ball to go.
An excellent performance from all 8 bowlers used finished off a below par Walsall Health side giving Nomads good winning prospects.
Gardner opened with debutant Sayles, another Allestree man, who unfortunately top-edged his first ball giving a catch at square leg which the fielder was surprised to hang on to. Loxley started off with a six first ball and pushed the scoring along with a rapid 22 before being bowled. Gardner was accumulating runs at a steady pace but victory was achieved with a rapid fire 66 in some 30 balls by Mahmood. An innings which included 3 sixes and 10 fours. Hutton was there at the end after Gardner was lbw.
An excellent victory against a team we have not often defeated saw Nomads back on track for a winning season.
