Birch Coppice 189 for 7 from 40 overs
(Berry 78, Kester 45, Fearon 4-57, Greaves 2-38) Nomads 101 for 6 from 40 overs(Heslington 24, Fearon 20, Coleman 2-10) In hot sunny conditions, Nomads made it 3 defeats on the trot after losing to Coppice by 88 runs. Some tight bowling early on saw Coppice start slowly but with wickets in hand they managed to increase the tempo as the game wore on. There were at least 4 dropped catches of varying degrees of difficulty, which all added to Nomads woe. Despite the ineptitude in the field there were 3 stunning catches to admire. A steepling catch by Cartwright, despite colliding with Fearon, a sharp chance picked up by Higginson at mid off and a superb catch by Greaves at long on. The Nomads batting was soon under pressure as Gardner fell with the score on 10 and Higginson followed with the score on 21. Tight bowling from Coppice saw the ever increasing required run rate spiral beyond reach and Nomads lost by 88 runs. |
