Nomads 135 for 9 from 40 overs (Pinfield 74no).
Church Eaton 84 all out from 34 overs
(Heslington 4-14, Rowland 3-8)

Nomads elected to bat still missing Shohet & Cartwright who turned up 30 minutes late after their traditional visit to Church Aston. Pacy bowling from G.Woodhall (apparently usually a spinner) worried openers Fellows & Heslington who eventually fell to this bowler. He then quickly claimed the wickets of Hussein and Caygill leaving Nomads at 29-4 after 11 overs. Higginson came together with Pinfield who was steadying the ship and the patnership lasted 9 overs to bring the score to 63. Then Hoddy came in hoping to play another captain's innings and did so by lasting 6 overs, scoring no runs and running himself out in a bizarre misjudgement of where the ball had gone. However the score was now 83 thanks to Pinfield's sensible batting. Shohet came in and played confidently but was unfortunately bowled around his legs. Cartwright was unfortunate to be run out by a direct hit  and Rowland had a brief flurry. Greaves then faced one ball and the total was 135 with a great kock of 74no from Pinfield.

Fearing a hard struggle Nomads were given a boost when Heslington took 2 wickets in his first over and added a further wicket a little later with a good catch by Shohet behind the stumps. A further wicket had Church Eaton on par with Nomads at 28-4 after 11 overs. A good stand by Egerton and Stewart tilted the game back to the opposition when at 73 off 27 overs Cartwright took a brilliant catch in the covers to dismiss Egerton off Rowland. Then 3 wickets were lost for no runs added on 82, Rowland bowling Church Eaton's last hope Stewart, and a little later the innings was over at 84 all out. Nomad's average batting was again supported by splendid bowling and good fielding.
