Lichfield Nomads opened their batting with Heslington and Hussein against Bablake OB. After a steady start Hussein in particular pushed the run-rate along and the opening partnership reached 72 off 19 overs. Hussein, attempting to maintain the momentum, called for a run off a ball hit straight to the fielder and was easily run out when Heslington declined this ambitious call. However this brought in Gardner who was due a good innings after, by his high standards, a disappointing season. Unfortunately Heslington was soon out to give way to Nomads new acquisition from league cricket in Buxton, Dan Moss. He showed signs of his talent with some classy shots off his legs but was unluckily bowled with a double deflection off both front pad and back leg for only 8 runs. The next 2 batsmen - Pinfield and McGuinness came and went but helped Gardner push the score along to 192. A final partnership with Forster saw Gardner reach 80 runs before being caught in the last over and then Forster was caught and bowled off the last ball of the match with no further runs added for a total of 216

Bablake were tied down to a slow start with accurate bowling by Heslington and Forster with Heslington claiming an early wicket. Udeshi and Clarke looked confident and started punishing the first change bowlers especially Moss who went for 8 per over in his spell. However Greaves was at his niggling best, keeping the scoring under control and claiming the vital wicket of Clarke for 52. Cartwright had replaced Heslington by this time and produced a destructive spell bowling Udeshi for 56 and claiming 3 further wickets, including a spectacular Caught and bowled, to break Bablake’s resistance. Further wickets were claimed by Hoddy and Pinfield leaving Bablake with 168-9 off their 40 overs, 48 runs short of Nomads total.
