Birch Coppice 212 for 6 from 40 overs (Whittlestone 76, Burdett 61, Hoddy 3-37, Greaves 2-45)
Nomads 204 for 8. (Pinfield 63, Gardner 34, Burdett 2-26, Whittlestone 2-28)
Nomads lost to Coppice by 8 runs after a battling performance. In windy conditions Greaves and Hoddy shared the wickets as Coppice reached 212 for 6. Nomads were always behind the rate but another 50 from Pinfield and good knocks from Gardner, Hoddy and Cartwright ensured that Birch Coppice had to concentrate right to the end of the match as the Nomads reached 204 for 8.

Coppice batted first and openers Whittlestone and Burdett put on 110 for the first wicket to lay the foundations for an impressive total. Gardner showed good sportsmanship to call back Whittlestone after he walked for a caught behind, the ball just failing to carry. Some poor quality fielding, strong winds, bad luck and a controversial decision when a stumping appeal was turned down all added to Nomads woe but the bowlers stuck at it and Coppice were restricted to 212 when 240 seemed on the cards. There was 3 wickets for Hoddy, 2 for Greaves and 3 stumpings for Gardner. Nomads start was unconvincing as first Fearon and then Hussein went cheaply. The old firm of Gardner and Pinfield put together a good partnership before Gards was caught by a blinding catch at mid off. Pinfield went on to get his 50 with assistance from Higginson and Forster. The final fling came with a battling partnership from Hoddy and Cartwright who were always way behind the rate but kept the pressure on Coppice right to the end who added to the tension by bowling excessive wides. In the end 18 off the last over was too much to ask and Coppice won by 8 runs.

Quote of the Match: by Mal Pinfield. "Thanks Paul Take a Rest". After bowling his first over, which was the 39th of the match.
