Rain halts Nomad's progress 

The weather intervened as the 2005 season kicked off at Swynnerton.
Nomads new skipper Pete 'Snapper' Blackburn won the toss and batted first but persistent drizzle became driving rain and an early tea was taken at 35 overs. Play could not be restarted due to the miserable conditions and the match was abandoned after 35 overs with the Nomads on 142 for 4.

The tried and trusted pairing of Gardner and Heslington opened the batting and rode their luck a little before Heslington was bowled by an unplayable shooter for 9 with the score on 22. Moss arrived late as usual but was ready in time to come in at number three and score a useful 19. He started very cautiously and took 9 balls to get off the mark but soon found his rhythm and quick running between the wickets helped push the score along.
Gardner was the second wicket to fall, out for a top-scoring 30 with the score on 59, bowled by Cakewell. Moss was also bowled, with the score on 85. Pinfield was joined by Hussein and the pair batted very sensibly and added 42 before Pinfield was caught in the deep trying to push the score along as the final 10 overs began.

Ted Osborn got a taste of the action and had scored 8 when the weather interrupted proceedings. Hussein was not out 21 when play was suspended.

A useful run out for the Nomads top order but a disappointing start to the season weather wise.

Swynnerton offered another game later in the season as consolation.
