WT Parker v Lichfield Nomads

WT Parker 148 for 9 (30 overs)
Lichfield Nomads 152 for 4 (30 overs)

Debut fifty for Hughes boosts Nomads.
In a rain affected match the Nomads triumphed by six wickets against WT Parker at the Marston's ground in Burton. There were three wickets for Greaves and Captain Hughes, who also scored his debut 50.

A fine spell of bowling from Heslington, only conceding 5 runs from 6 overs, restricted WTP to 13 runs off the first 7 overs. Replacing Forster at the Brewery end bomber Greaves immediately struck removing Pagett and Gower in the last 2 balls of his first over. In his second over he removed Straw caught by Forster , taking 3 wickets in 8 balls. The Martin brothers put on 19 for the 4th wicket before a comical run out. Johnson joined the opener to carry the score to 71 off 20 overs when Moss removed Martin during a controlled spell of 20 off 6 overs. At this point Dave Plested entered the fray and the scoring rate went up to 7 an over before Johnson was caught and bowled by Hughes with the score on 112 with 5 overs to go. Warren was well caught over his shoulder by Forster with the score on 121 in the 27th over but this didn't deter Plested from going for victory when he was brilliantly caught by Moss on the deep square leg boundary for 36 off 25 balls. Captain Hughes bowled wisely for his 3 wickets ably assisted by Mr Pickering at the end. WTP finished on 148 for 9 wkts having been 70 for 4 off 20. One of the key features of the Nomads was the wicket keeping of Pete Gardner from the fielding of Dan Moss.

A rain affected innings with 2 breaks, one prolonged to take tea before resumption with match restricted to 30 overs, max 6 per bowler. Gardner was out early caught at mid on by Plested off a full toss., Captain Hughes started well with 3 4's helping KS in a stand of 41 before a lengthy break when tea was taken. Immediately on resumption Keith was out and Pinfield joined Hughes in a 3rd wicket stand before an athletic catch from Warren ended his innings. Caygill and Hughes ran well to put on 30 before Hughes was out pushing for runs, scoring a pb of 50 on his birthday. Dan Moss joined Caygill and they put on 45 off the last 7 overs Moss punishing the WTP attack.
