Stoneygate C.C. v Lichfield Nomads C.C.

Nomads end Stoneygate's losing run

Despite being Father’s Day, Nomads raised a team for the long journey out into Leicestershire.
Winning the toss, the captain for the day, Dave Rolfe, elected to bat, opening with himself and Pete Gardner and made a good start.
Rolfe was just starting to open up when he was bowled on 39 and then Gardner fell just one short of a fifty.
The next few batsmen all contributed but no-one could go on to build a big innings. The score ended up on 186-5, which seemed a little short in these days of attacking cricket.

Stoneygate assured us that their recent history was a run of batting collapses, however this run came to an end in this match.

Fearon and Lee kept things under control with the only chance being a very difficult chance to Cartwright in the covers.
The opening batters gave few chances and proceeded to up the run-rate as they progressed.
With Morley retiring on 50, Hoddy managed to get the sole wicket, a smart catch behind the stumps by Rolfe. However the other opener, Ward achieved an unbeaten 92 and with the help of Astil cruised to victory in the 33rd over.

Nomads kept at it but, to be fair, Stoneygate were superior in all departments.
