Nomads equal best start to a season
The opening four wins of the 2007 season shares
the record with 2002 as the best winning start to a season the Nomads have
ever had.
2007 Season -
Four Wins
The 2007 season began with a
six wicket win over
Swynnerton, followed by a
95 run win aginst Coombes
Wood. There was then a
24 run win against Sunseekers and a
47 run win against Church
Eaton. Batting first and posting a big score has
been a key factor in the winning sequence. With the number of runs scored over
200 runs scored on three occasions and 181 in the match where the Nomads batted
second.
2002 Season - Four Wins
The 2002 season started with four straight wins but the margin of victory
was much closer in each game. The Nomads beat
Swynnerton and
Cannock Wood by just 18 runs. The
Nomads beat Friary Grange to win
the Stuart Ellison cup by one wicket. The fourth victory came against
M&T CC when the Nomads triumphed
by four wickets. The winning run was ended with a defeat against
Trentside.
The season culminated in one of the most successful ever with twelve victories
and only six defeats.
1986 Season - Four Wins and three
draws.
The 1986 season began with a victory against John Taylor, followed by a draw
against Phoenix. The unbeaten run extended to 7 matches with a win against
Rugeley Power Station, a draw against Thorn, a victory against Yoxall and draws
against Church Stretton and Thorn. The wheels fell off in style as the run ended
with a defeat against John Taylor High School. The Nomads posting a miserable 38
runs all out.
As the previous season (1985) ended
with two draws and three victories, the Nomads actually went 12 consecutive
games without losing. With the switch to more 40 over matches, in recent times,
it is unlikely that this record will ever be beaten.
