Week 18 results. The Last of the Great Lobsters maintains its lead but the coming of The Great Thermidor looms large. lead. This week was a Welsh Benefit with Evans the Elder just pipping Evans the Younger to
the Top (Mongrel) Dog award. |

defeat yet again. The Gods are definitely conspiring against the Nomads, as they suffered another last ball defeat. This time against Beaudesert. Nomads scored 125 for 8 (Fearon 41, Hoddy 19 not out) and Beaudesert got home with 2 wickets to spare off the very last ball of the match. Match Report.. |
21/7/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 10 results. Not so good a week for Lancashire but much better for Lanky Lanky who were this week's top

the right test players in our sides - it makes a hell of a difference (ask the Chairman). Week 9 results. Pete Willis |

think. Week 8 results. Pete Willis |
8/7/01 - Nomads settle for draw at
Bugbrooke. The Nomads fell just short of Bugbrooke's total and settled for a draw in a declaration match. Bugbrooke 180 for 7 (Chapman 51, Newson 25, Reeve 21 not out, Hoddy 3-39, Heslington 2-44), Nomads 155 for 8 (Forster 36, Heslington 31, Gardner 28, Pinfield 24, Finch-Noyes 3-15, Gilthorpe 3-28, Silva 2-42) Match Report. 3 Gonads were added to the list during the run chase. 2001 Gonads. |

29/6/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 7 results.A storming week for Martyn whose faith in Muralitharan as his captain finally paid off
and made Black & White Top Team this week. The Chairman picked a good substitution as
he replaced Stewart by Gilchrist thereby picking up 240pts from the one player. Willis
also topped the 400 mark to leave Bescot Balti- Pies 2XI and The Last Of The Great
Lobsters sharing the lead. Week 7 results. Pete Willis |
25/6/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 6 results.A heavy Heslington week but Darren is still number one. Week 6 results. Pete Willis |
20/6/01 - 50 Club results for June The following 50 club prize draws were held at Holland Sports
Club Full details of
50 Club Winners |
24/6/01 - Third defeat on the trot for
the Nomads. After 2 close finishes
this result was never in doubt as Nomads lost by 88 runs. |
17/6/01 - Nomads lose another cliff
hanger. For the second week running
the Nomads went right to the wire and lost. The margin this time was 1 wicket. Nomads set
a reasonable target of 156 on a slow wicket and even slower outfield after heavy rain over
the weekend. Some below par bowling, dropped catches, untidy fielding and controversial
umpiring meant that Norton Selly Oak just got home with plenty of overs but only one
wicket to spare. |
15/6/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 5 results.Another heavy scoring week for Darren who maintains his lead.
Willis and Evans snr. vying for second place in the weekly scores on 364/363. Week 5 results. Pete Willis |
10/6/01 - Nomads play Church Eaton away
twice. The Nomads match at home to Church Eaton has been switched to an away game at the request of the opposition. |
10/6/01 - Nomads lose to Church Eaton
in a last ball thriller. The Nomads
battled gamely against Church Eaton C.C. (formerly Glebelands) but lost on the last ball
as Church Eaton won by 4 wickets. Skipper Hoddy won the toss and once again elected to
bat. The Nomads stuttered to 32-2 before Fearon and Pinfield started to get to grips
with the Church Eaton spin attack and put on 60 for the third wicket. Pinfield reached his
50 and was finally stumped for 55 dancing down the track taking the attack to the
opposition. The tail showed its mettle once again with McGuinness starring (24) and good
support from Forster and Hoddy. The quicker bowlers struggled on the wicket and the game
was virtually lost until the introduction of spin. Forster and then the spin twins Greaves
and Hoddy wrested the initiative and finally started to put the batsmen under pressure.
The pressure was mounting for both sides as the Nomads had a faint whiff of victory and
the home side feared they were going to blow it with 20 runs required off the last 2
overs. Cartwright and Greaves were given the responsibility of bowling the last overs but
the Nomads late rally counted for nothing as a combination of desperate running, poor
fielding and clean slogging ensured Church Eaton got home with a single off the last ball
of the match. |
8/6/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 4 results. The Causeway Dippers just managed to fly a little higher than a Bescot Balti Pie but Darren
remains in overall lead. The Mongrel XI showed its pedigree -or perhaps the team had been
drinking it! Week 4 results. Pete Willis |
3/6/01 - Nomads entertain the Belgians. The Nomads will play Mechelen Eagles from Belgium on Saturday August 11th. This will be the 4th year running that the Nomads and Eagles have met. |
3/6/01 - Gards reaches 10,000 runs The win against Ward End Unity saw Pete Gardner pass 10,000 runs for the Nomads. Congratulations got to Pete who was presented with a tankard to mark the occassion. |
3/6/01 - Nomads beat Ward End Unity. The Nomads beat Ward End Unity by 60 runs. Having won the toss and electing to bat the Nomads scored an impressive 223 for 4 off 40 overs, including an opening stand worth 140 runs (Gardner 74, Heslington 58, Hine 2-31) and 63 extras. Ward End Unity slumped from 72-2 to 163-9 off 40 overs (Forster 4-20, Cartwright 2-28) |
1/6/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 3 results.Darren maintains his lead but Heslingtons changes make him top of the poll.
While Martyns performance is mainly due to three of his team not playing and most of
the rest under performing. (Maybe it should be renamed A Tory XI) .Time for changes!!
(Change deadline is TUESDAY). Week 3 results. Pete Willis |
27/5/01 - Nomads Match Cancelled. |
25/5/01 - Nomads Fantasy Cricket 2001
Week 2 results. An outstanding performance by Darren ,thanks to his England men,
managed to eclipse the only other 300+ pointer of Gards. Week 2 results. Pete Willis |

5/5/01 - Nomads celebrate first win
with 2 jugs The Nomads registered their first win of the season against Stafford 3rds. Last minute call ups to the second team left their third team weakened and the Nomads took full advantage with a 71 run win. Nomads batted first and recovered from 10 for 2 to score 171 for 5. With the highlights being 53 from Mal Pinfield and a stand of 64 between John Hoddy and debutant Mick McGuinness. Chris Rowland picked up 5 for 18 as Stafford 3rds were bowled out for 100, to ensure an emphatic win for the Nomads. |

30/4/01 - Nomads hold out for draw at
Olton. Against a mixed team of 2nds and 3rds plus the Australian Professional, Nomads put up a decent performance in the first full game of the season. Nomads bowled well and restricted the Olton and West Warwickshire batting to 171 after they batted on for 15 minutes before tea. Nomads reached 72 for 6 thanks in the main to a stubborn 7th wicket partnership between Heslington and Grewer. Heslington had earlier starred with the ball as well, taking 3 wickets before turning an ankle late in the game in his second spell. |
23/4/01 - Nomads Fixture List The Fixture List is now available on the website. LNCC 2001 Fixtures Thanks go to Mal Pinfield for arranging an excellent set of fixtures, once again. |
22/4/01 - Nomads presented with the
Ridley Shield The Nomads played an Ashes Style Challenge match against an Australian side made up of players who travelled over to Lichfield for a wedding. The match was eventually abandoned due to lack of time as the pitch was in use immediately afterwards with the game evenly poised. Nomads reached 74 for 6 after some suicidal running and a fine individual knock by Higginson. The Aussies reached 55 for 2 before the game was abandoned. The big hitting of Aussie Tapper looked likely to swing the game in the Ridley X1's favour. Despite the lack of numbers the game was competitive and played in a good spirit. |
